Going retro
Occasionally I’ll come across a mention of rules that I once played or were referenced in old club newsletters. When this happens I ponder trying to obatin them just to see how my tastes have changed or have they indeed done so? Normally I can pretty much put the idea of acquiring said rules out of mind, but lately I’ve been thinking about revisiting my original proper wargaming period (Modern 1/300th). And so I checked through my old copies of rules: Engage and Destroy: Close Action; WRG 1950-1985; Challenger in its various iterations.
Unfortunately the one rules system I’d often considered I don’t have and is pretty hard to find: Enola Games’ Combat Commander/Battlefield Commander and the WW2 version: GI Commander. I’ll probably try and track them down via eBay and the like or get them via Navwar if I can be arsed dealing with their 1960s ordering system.
I can’t see myself doing much gaming with them to be honest, but it’d be nice to do a couple of retro 1970s and 1980s Central Front type games just for fun again.
