I wandered over to Bill Armintrout’s TMP only to find he’s lost the plot regarding the WW2 message boards – It’s like CSW only without a utilitarian format – if CSW was a pain to post substantively, TMP was worse. Added to that the propensity of TMP to play overt favourites and indulge in a surfeit of nit-picking social correctness and I’m feeling a lot better about going back to blogging as my primary web presence.
TMP has moved away from where its strength was, news and community reviews. Now it’s a haven for sock-puppets, muppets of the first order and unprofessional garage concerns whose spite and jealousy is all too apparent.
A negative post unfortunately with little substantive content. But then as I’m away from home, I’m a little restricted in what I have access to right now.

Ouch!
So here I am, thinking about starting a new army and getting everything organised when I suddenly realise I’m running low on black undercoat and matt varnish.
This would normally be rectified by a quick trip to Mr Models to purchase the requisite Humbrol Matt 33 Black enamel and Matt Cote except for one thing:
Humbrol are no more! and the faster uptake people have already gone and looted all available stock.
Now I have to scrabble around for a black undercoat that has the necessary qualities of mattness, coverage, tooth and stability as well as finding a brush on matt varnish that matches the effectiveness of the the old Humbrol bottled version. If possible I’ll try and find a local supplier of Revell for the former and see how the Winsor and Newton matt varnish works for the latter, although I may well end up using the Vallejo varnish as long as it’s hard wearing.
Ah well at least Hyun’s (The Hyunster on TMP) technique of gesso primer will not have to be updated – if only 15mm took Gesso primers well I’d be set.
